One Day Project – Simple Slouch Beanie

This casual slouch beanie works up quickly within a couple of hours, and makes the perfect winter accessory. Inspired by my love of simple patterns, is there anything more satisfying that starting and finishing a project in an afternoon?

Total time to knit this beanie: 2.5 hours.

Difficulty: Easy/ Beginner

What you’ll need:

  • 2 x 100g chunky yarn – I’m using Knit Pick’s Tuff Puff in Pomegranate.
  • US Size 13 (9mm) 16″ Circular Knitting needles
  • US Size 13 (9mm) Double Pointed Knitting needles (optional)
  • Stitch Marker – You can purchase a set of three here.
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • K – Knit
  • K2tog – Knit two stitches together
  • * – Repeat from star to finish

The Pattern:

Cast on 45 stitches using a long tail cast on. Join in the round and place stitch marker to mark the start/end of each round.

Body

Knit every stitch until piece measures Approximately 10″ or 25cm cast on edge.

Knitting every stitch will create the stockinette stitch with a roll up brim.

Decrease

(Note: for the decrease I transferred my stitches onto 3 DPN’s – 4 DPN’s total)

Round 1: *K3, K2tog *repeat to end

Round 2: Knit

Round 3:*K2, K2tog

Round 4: Knit

Round 5: *K1, K2tog

Round 6: Knit

Round 7: *K2tog

9 stitches left.

You’ll be left with 9 stitches on your needle, cut your yarn leaving a long tail and weave through the 9 remaining stitches. Drawstring to close and tie to secure. Weave in all ends.

  1. Thank you for providing this free pattern! I love how it came out.
I posted my hat on Ravelry since I don’t have Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. 😉
