Difficulty: Beginner

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SELL WHAT YOU MAKE BUT PLEASE REFERENCE ME AND THIS PATTERN IF YOU DO. DO NOT SELL THIS PATTERN OR REDISTRIBUTE AS YOUR OWN. IF YOU WANT TO SHARE THIS PATTERN, SEND A LINK TO THIS PAGE

What you’ll need:

  • US 4 (3.5mm) Crochet Hook
  • Yarn A: 100-200g DK yarn in orange colour (I’m using Paton’s DK Smoothie . ADD LINK)
  • Yarn B: 20g DK yarn in brown
  • Yarn C: 20g DK yarn in green
  • Stitch marker
  • Sewing Needle
  • Acrylic toy stuffing – I get mine here

Abbreviations:

  • MR – Magic ring
  • CH – Chain
  • SS – Slip stitch
  • SC – Single crochet
  • SC Inc – Two single crochet stitches in the same stitch
  • SC2tog – Single crochet two stitches together in the front loop only.
  • * – Repeat from star to end
  • BLO – Back loops only
  • DC – Double crochet
  • HDC – Half double crochet
  • FO – Fasten off

Notes:

If you are not familiar with the Magic Ring technique you can simply replace this with 2 Chains and use the second chain from the hook as your magic ring.

I.e. MR 5 = CH 2, in 2nd CH from hook 5 SC.

This pattern uses an invisible decrease throughout, this is created by decreasing in the front loops only.

Pumpkins approximate measurements (height x circumference):

Small – 5cm (H) x 10cm (C)

Medium – 7cm (H) x 13cm (C)

Large – 12cm (H) x 20cm (C)

  1. Help!!
I’ve made the big pumpkin and I’m ready to do the ribbing but my sewing needle is too short to go through. What hat did you use?

    1. This was tricky for me as well! I used extra long darning needles on all three of them or a long tapestry needle works well too, even then I had to use a bit of brute force (and the helping hand of my partner to squish the pumpkin flat) in order to thread it through!
